Mark Brown

Professor Brown is a Senior Staff Nephrologist at St George Hospital and Professor of Renal Medicine at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. His clinical activities include general nephrology with specific interests in the fields of obstetric medicine and hypertension in pregnancy, as well as Renal Supportive Care and health for the homeless. Professor Brown is the immediate Past President of the International Society for the study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (ISSHP).

He is Medical Director of the Division of Medicine at St George hospital where he leads research into the hypertensive disorders of pregnancy as well as the Renal Supportive care team, developing research and clinical practice changes for non-dialysis patients with end-stage kidney disease.

He has a 30 year history of involvement in medical education, has been a senior National Examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and has taught medical students, Junior doctors and registrars for this whole time.

He has published over 250 peer reviewed papers and book chapters and received several awards for his work including an Order of Australia award and the ISSHP Chesley award in 2018.
